Why storm drains are important

Storm drains around the lake can sometimes be clogged with leaves and other debris which can contribute to pollution of the lake.  In addition, if shrubs, hedges, etc. extend too far from one’s property into the street where a drain is located, street sweepers can veer past them, leaving them covered and/or clogged.  If possible, please trim back any branches/tree limbs hanging into the street that may obstruct street sweepers from cleaning debris all the way to the curb.  If you are interested in “adopting” the storm sewer near you, can sign up to name it, claim it, and sustain it at:  adopt-a-drain.org
