The purpose of this posting is to inform you of the intent of the CLIA to treat a select area of Crystal Lake for Eurasian Watermilfoil.  Lake surveys commissioned by the city of Burnsville have shown steadily increasing levels of Eurasian Watermilfoil over the past several years.  The growth of this non-native invasive plant has been particularly heavy in the small bay at the east end of the lake (just north of Bluebill Bay) – shown below.  Treatment (pending DNR permit) would occur in September in select areas of the bay and adjacent shoreline where heavy Milfoil growth exists using a liquid 2,4-D herbicide that is approved for aquatic use.  The treatment will be paid for by CLIA and a matching grant from Dakota County.
