The CLIA has been working for the last several months to collaborate with the DNR Fisheries Department to stock walleye in Crystal Lake. Our fisheries committee found and partnered with a fishery (West Central Fisheries) in northern Minnesota to purchase nearly 250lbs of walleye.

Our goal is for the newly introduced walleye to improve the fishing experience on Crystal Lake and help control pan-fish populations.

A Gill Net survey will be completed in 2020 to decide the effectiveness of this stocking and help determine if future walleye stockings are worth while.

The walleye were purchased in 2 size groups

  • 4-8″ (90lbs) 1500 Fish (estimate)
  • 12-18″ (160lbs) 480 Fish (estimate)

Stocking was completed May 11th, 2018 at the main boat landing.
